Aviation Appreciation Friday - The Legacy of Amelia Earhart 🛩️

We're going to keep it short and sweet for the second in our lineup. Next up in our Aviation Appreciation Fridays, Amelia Earhart!

Born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas, Earhart certainly defied societal norms to pursue her passion for flying in an era when aviation was largely dominated by men. 1897: Born in Atchison, Kansas, on July 24th.

1920: Amelia’s first airplane ride, sparking her fascination with aviation.

1928: Accomplished her first transatlantic flight as a passenger, becoming the first woman to do so. This flight propelled her to fame and opened doors for her future endeavors.

1932: Earhart became the first woman to fly solo nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean, setting a new record and solidifying her place in history. She flew from Newfoundland to Ireland in approximately 15 hours.

1935: Amelia becomes the first person to fly solo from Hawaii to California, a challenging feat across the Pacific Ocean.

1937: Earhart embarked on her most ambitious journey yet; attempting to circumnavigate the globe. Tragically, she disappeared over the Pacific Ocean on July 2nd, 1937, during the final leg of her flight. Despite an extensive search effort, her plane and remains were never found, leading to one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century.
